NDA June Student of The Month

After taking a short vacation, Student of The Month is back and here to stay. This feature is very popular and it's easy to see why. It allows us to celebrate outstanding achievement of one particular student for every month. The Student of The Month is chosen by our tutors over a hot drink and some biscuits.

Huge congratulations go to Sophie Sharp for being awarded the title this month. Sophie is studying a Foundation Degree in Retail Design. Find out why Sophie was chosen as this month's winner below and view her work here.

"Sophie has been chosen by the Tutor team as student of the month for her display in retail branding, concept, development and production.
Taking us through her journey of the re-branding of a well known company, Sophie has demonstrated a keen awareness in the understanding of brand identity, customer target markets and applying these elements to a new sub-branch of New Look.  The final design concept shows simplicity, eye for detail and clear product selection that still adhere to the integrity and original brand values that are so important to the company.
Her well defined visuals also give us a clear insight into the final aesthetic of her scheme, with a mix of the easily identifiable and new design concepts working well together. Well done, Sophie!"

We contacted Sophie to tell her the good news, here's what she had to say;

"I am delighted to have been chosen as student of the month for my work on Module 8 of the Retail Design FdA.
The brief was to introduce a sub-brand to an existing high street brand.  I chose to add a homewares sub-brand to fashion retailers New Look, called "New Look rooms".  This was selected as I thought it would give me the opportunity to implement all I had learnt throughout the course previously.  This included elements such as - branding, space planning and visual merchandising.
Although a lot of hard work was involved, I am very happy with the end result.  I am also pleased with how much my work has improved since the start of the course, in particular the development of my technical drawing and CAD skills."
