Interior Design Course FAQ's

1.What are the entry requirements?

Diploma -  There are no qualifications needed to enrol on our Diploma in Professional Interior Design or Professional Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings. The course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to design your own project, help family and friends or kick-start a new career. 

Foundation Degree - Perfect if you’re serious about becoming an Interior Designer or are aiming to achieve a BA (Hons) qualification in Interior Design. We accept a variety of qualifications for this course, so please click the link below to view them all.

BA (Hons) -  All of our courses are fully accredited by Staffordshire University, including our BA (Hons) degree’s in Interior Design, Heritage, Retail Design and Outdoor Living. To enrol on these courses you will need a Foundation Degree in Interior Design, HND/HNC in Interior Design or an equivalent qualification.  Click the link below to find out more!

2.What are the fees?

3. Are the online courses only available for people staying/living in the UK?
No! As long as you have a good standard of English, you can study with the National Design Academy wherever you are in the world.

4.Am I entitled to funding?

5. Is the Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) Degree internationally recognised?
Yes!  

6.How long is the course?

Times given are only guidelines, so you can take less or more time to finish each course depending on your circumstances.

Diploma – The estimated time for completing this course is 10 months. You will study 10 units and for each unit we allow 4 weeks to complete.

Professional Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings –  The estimated completion time for this course is 11 months. It consists of 11 units, each taking 4 weeks to complete.  

All Foundation Degree’s – This course includes 8 modules which are split into 2 levels (4 modules each). We allow 3 months per module making the estimated completion time 2 years studying part time.

BA (Hons) – This course is made up of 3 modules. For the first 2 we allow 4 months each to complete and the final module (dissertation) 8 months. Making the total completion time 12-18 months.

7. How do I get on the VLS forum?
Ask your tutor for an invite which will be sent to your personal email. Easy!

8. Can you explain what level each qualification is?
Diploma – Level 3, which is the equivalent to an A-Level qualification.
  
Foundation Degree – Levels 4 & 5, which are the equivalent to years 1 & 2 at university.

BA (Hons) – Level 6, which is the equivalent to your final year at university. 

9. What tutor support will I receive? 
You can contact your tutor by phone and email 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. But you can also make an appointment to come in to the Academy and have one-to-one time with your tutor. Whether you need advice, help with technical skills or feedback, the tutor team will endeavour to help you as much as possible. 

10.How will I study this course?
All course content and assignments are delivered through our bespoke online Virtual Learning Studio (VLS). Here you can work through each module and digitally upload your assignments. You can also take advantage of the interactive student forum, video’s, careers advice and much more! 

11.How do I send my work in? (Particularly relevant to Professional Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings students)
It's easy, just label each piece of work with your name and student number and post to the Academy's address.

12.What file type should I save my work in, particularly if I am to upload on the VLS?
It is best to try and save your work as PDF files, this is particularly relevant to PowerPoint files. Students can save a PowerPoint presentation PDF in the "save" menu. This avoids any errors, because how the work has been designed by the student may not transfer over correctly to their tutor. Particularly if  a special font has been used. Saving by PDF ensures all content is kept as it is intended.
 
13.When I view the course notes online, I can't access the websites shown, why?
This is because you are viewing the course material as a "download" version that is only for print. The course material should be viewed from the main page, which will allow you to click onto the links.
